It’s been nearly a year and a half since the Covid-19 lockdown began, yet it feels like only yesterday and an eternity ago, all at the same time. There’s a buzz in the air, and we can’t help but feel an almost post-apocalyptic vibe this summer. As the dust settles and the smoke begins to clear, industries and social events reemerge. It seems that everyone is dashing to catch up on lost time – in business, connections, travel, and personal goals. Although some less fortunate have lost their jobs or companies, others have discovered new frontiers they may otherwise not have explored. I think we can agree we’ve all experienced a shift.
It seems more urgent now than ever to take risks because, as we have all witnessed firsthand, no one knows what tomorrow might bring. And so, we believe the time to act is now. We took a step back and re-evaluated everything. We asked ourselves, “what does the industry need right now, where are the blind spots, and what are the struggles?” There is no longer any room to view counterparts as competition. We’ve reached out to some of the industry’s best to merge forces with a plan for shared growth. We’ve worked silently in the shadows to create something truly dynamic and multifaceted for you.
Our first rollout came with the announcement of NUGL’s joint venture with Kaya Group, Jamaica’s leading vertically integrated medical cannabis company. Kaya’s diverse operations – headquartered in Ocho Rios – include a licensed cultivation facility with over 70 genetics, a processing facility, three retail dispensaries, and conditional licenses to transport and operate therapeutic wellness spas. Kaya Group was the first to open a medical cannabis retail location in Jamaica in March 2018 and has since established itself as a leading supplier and exporter of medical cannabis throughout the Caribbean and South America through its ganja franchise with Quantum Ventures in Punta Del Este, Uruguay. What happens next is still under wraps, but we promise to hit the industry hard when we emerge, so get excited and be involved. From the ashes comes new life, and we plan on growing like weeds!
